Our event space as the name suggests is hidden in nature but beside the twinkling Lake Hāwea.

Events & Community

Events and Corporate hosting came to us in the form of company leaders intuiting that the best way to build relationships and strategise is when you are surrounded by authentic people and a sense of place and purpose. At LHS the vast whenua does the heavy lifting.

“From regenerative agriculture practices, creating solutions for future problems, value ad thought processes, wellness, culinary adventures, immersive on farm time, and six star accommodation, you will leave a different and better person by staying at Lake Hawea Station.

Never have I seen a group of strangers become more connected to a place and each other than on our trip to Lake Håwea Station. Our minds were blown by the level of humble yet opulent accommodation and expanded by what the team there are doing, chef Dane and his passion for provence and sustainability being a true highlight for us all. It really does make you believe that anything is possible and challenges you to be better.”

”The LHS staff are so thoroughly impressive that I wanted to reach out with a full-hearted THANK YOU ALL for making these past few days so amazing for all of us. I LOVE the goals you have for the land and I LOVE the ability you have to say YES to every request and then do it even better than the person making the request could ever have imagined. Richie, Sophie and the whole gang — You are all truly incredible. Thank you again!!!”

Community

From the first moment on the land to today the Ross family have made community outreach a priority. Not always in traditional ways. There are quiet donations, the Lilliput library which immediately took on a life of its own, the planting of many thousands of trees, hosting community events and fundraisers.

Lake Hāwea Station believes fundamentally in sharing the whenua and its resources with as many people as possible. In 2025, over 600 people visited the station and 400 walked Breast Peak to raise money for breast cancer research.

The gates are regularly open for driving and hunting fundraisers. The lodgings are offered for fundraiser stays, Alpine Trust, Girls who grow, PHD students, star gazing for local schools, wellness workshops … the list of enrichment visitors is long and usually it is the station team who are enriched.

“We have really settled in to station life! Do you think if we just stayed quiet no one would notice us and we could stay??? Just a dreamy thought…. We so love this place and its people!”
